⭐️19-20 JUNE 2026 ⭐️
The region’s Annual Show Whitsunday is two days of action, where we showcase agriculture and cultural heritage with exciting entertainment and competitions for all ages.
It is amazing to think that this region’s volunteers and community residents have come together to display, compete, and socialise for well over a century. Our regional show has only been cancelled three times in its vast history – two world wars and COVID-19 – quite a testament to the Shows’ importance to the residents of this region. We have ATMS on site if you need some cash.
We know it’s ShowTime when we start seeing some cooler temperatures and some beautiful blue Whitsunday skies. This also means that finally……..the showgrounds are starting to dry out after what seems like months of constant rain. It’s also time for our team of volunteers and committee to get the Proserpine Showgrounds ready once again for our region’s Annual Show. If you would like to join us, please help with preparations and set up, you are most welcome.
What time does the 2026 Show start? ⏰
The competition, excitement and family fun of the 113th Show Whitsunday will be happening 19th + 20th June, 2026. Gates open Friday morning from 8.00am with ring events and with Side Show Alley opening at 1.00 pm. Friday evening sees nighttime ring entertainment and fireworks and our infamous Show Bar operating late into the night. Saturday it’s all back on again until 2.00 pm.
Our annual Agricultural Show is primarily about TWO things – competition and entertainment – for locals, competitors and visitors alike. Like any Agricultural Show, this event is a carnival-like atmosphere of sideshow alley, mixed with thrilling ringside entertainment, plus animal exhibits – cattle and poultry, equestrian events, woodchopping, and let’s not forget the arts, crafts, photography, and cooking competition.
The entertainment staple is of course, the thrills and spills of SIDE SHOW ALLEY and its many rides and a wonderful way for you to create lasting memories with family and friends – no matter their age. From the Giant Slide, the Dodgem Cars, The Whizzer, Hurricane, Gravitron, Spinning Teacups, Jumping Castles – the list goes on – our alley is more of a road really …………..
Without a doubt, Melville’s Baby Animal Farm is the most popular site on the grounds and has been for many years. Generations of local patrons have grown up with annual visits to see, cuddle and feed these gorgeous, cute baby animals. It’s a fabulous opportunity to get some photos with your children and grandchildren.
Once again, you will also be able to immerse yourself in Precision Reptiles’ interactive wildlife education display. Our rural region means we do have a high incidence of snake and reptile activity, and not always the friendly kind. Precision Reptiles structures their show and display to promote snake awareness and safety as well as snake bite first aid. Great opportunity to educate yourself and your family in a safe environment. Fancy a photo with a bearded dragon or a slithering python – make sure you add this display to your must-do list.
For our more adventurous patrons, we welcome back Airtime FMX Motocross. The Airtime FMX Team are promising the Whitsundays another weekend of thrilling Freestyle Motocross. With high-profile long-term clients including the Sydney Royal Easter Show, V8 Supercars, Titans NRL, Ekka and Adelaide Royal Show, drawing crowds and providing action-packed entertainment is what they specialise in. Airtime FMX perform on both Friday and Saturday, including a performance on Friday evening, and there will be an opportunity to meet and greet the team and get some autographs for diehard fans.
Follow our Facebook page for real-time updates on the entertainment line-up. There is more to come.
We are often asked, “What keeps people coming back to the Show?” Other than the chance to catch up with family and friends and just have fun, perhaps the reason lies in the Show’s schedule of competitions and exhibits, which is what started the Show tradition 113 years ago.
Every year, our Show hosts many visitors and exhibitors who travel from across the country to compete in our varied competitions. The Equestrian Ring hosts a two-day program of equestrian and jumping events, drawing entries from the local region and interstate. The stud and beef cattle exhibits have a reputation of being a heavily contested state-wide event, as does the infamous Chook House, playing host to a varied range of poultry, ducks and geese entries from across the region.
Of course, what would be a regional Ag Show without a woodchop competition? Our Woodchop Event is also a two-day sporting event, which draws entries from across Australia. Many of its competitors are State, National and International Title holders.
The local region’s staple agricultural crop – sugar cane provides visitors with an insight into the intricacies of growing sugar, whilst providing a worthy local competition, a major event on the local Sugar Industry Calendar.
This year sees Canegrowers celebrate 100 years, and will also include the local schools’ cane growing competition, so look out for some extra surprises in the cane area.
But the show isn’t all about action and animals. Our Art, Craft and Cooking competitions showcase the skills and talents of our residents of all ages from across the region. Muffins, scones, piklets and fruitcakes – everything baking that can be done is turned into a competition. Our Art and Photography is a great opportunity for you to see the creativity of the many talented artists in the region. There are also the Fruit and Garden Produce and Plant and Flower exhibits, which many residents compete in annually.
So, for those wanting to take part in the competitions, go to our competition page for schedules and details. It’s not too late to become involved.
The show strives to have something for everyone – whether it’s dodgem cars or the thrill of the rides, the charm of the baby animal farm, showbags and fireworks, or just catching up for a cold beer at the infamous Biggest Regional Show Bar in the North, you can do it all at Show Whitsunday.
